2 egg whites

1/8 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. cream of tartar

3/4 cup sugar

4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate bits

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites until foamy, then add salt and cream of tartar and continue beating until eggs are stiff but not dry.  Add sugar, 2 tbsp. at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.  Fold in choc. bits, nuts and vanilla. Drop from tsp. onto ungreased heavy brown paper, set on a cookie sheet for easy handling.  Bake at 300 deg. for 25 minnutes. Remove from paper while still slightly warm.
